    The locomotive BNSF 7979 is a General Electric ES44C4 (they print the model on the deck — I can’t spot the differences between the various ES44 models): 4400 horsepower with idle (not driven) axles in the center position of each truck. It’s for efficiency, but I’m not entirely sure how that works. BNSF uses these all over their routes. How fast was it going? 70 mph?
